Breaking the Mold

From here on you can forget about what other DJ companies look, sound and make you feel… Over 70% of brides in hindsight wish they had done more research before choosing a DJ. Pick us apart and you’ll find that very few can compare. The person you call, email, and with which you meet, is your DJ. It’s not a salesman that passes your event off to someone else.

Do you value good communication?

Needed for clear understanding

No matter the size of your event, clear communication is needed to carry out your plans.

We aren't out to do as many events as we can.

Quality Over Quantity

We aren’t dependent on our event income to raise our families.  That’s why we can take the time to plan out and make sure our events are top notch.

Value equals Benefits minus Cost. The equation for our services.

It's All About Value

Asking ourselves if we would hire us for our own wedding, sure put things into perspective.  We made changes and now the answer is, “Absolutely!”

Our commitment to being able to roll with the punches...

Pliable, yet strong

Things go wrong. Our ability to adapt is key.  From fire alarms going off, to food not being ready… we’re prepared!

Sgt Brown’s Other Services

Although creating and playing music to create a certain mood is mostly what we do, there are a variety of other services which we offer.  Because we see so many different types of events, it just made sense to add some of these other offerings to our clients.  You may not have known that DJs offer these kinds of services, but we do!

Our interaction is based on your preference, not ours. We range from energetic and upbeat, to a more laid back style. We will go over that together when you hire us. You will not be caught off guard by anything we say or do. This is your special day. Our style puts you and your guests on center stage, not us. It’s not all about the DJ!
Yes. And the good news is that it protects both parties. It is extremely important to have your booking confirmed in writing. We send a contract to you with all the details of your event. We ask for a 25% advanced payment to book your date. The remaining balance is due prior to the event.
Definitely! We are available for weddings in Oregon, California, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Nevada and even destination weddings. This is a great way to know exactly who you are hiring before you set out. Our latest hire out of state was in Las Vegas, NV.
Yes. In fact, we really encourage brides to include this… The wedding ceremony is often the shortest but most important part of the big day. It’s also one of the #1 things guests get frustrated about if they can’t hear people speaking. We cover the ceremony with wireless microphone and speaker technology to stay as hidden as possible. This is your time to shine.
We have a policy to check out each and every venue before performing. Many times the ceremony and reception are at two different locations. Not only does becoming familiar with the site help us in our ability to do a good job, it also brings peace of mind to you, the client. You know that we have done out homework and prepared for your big day. We have one shot to make this right. There are no “do-overs”.
Of course! Why wouldn’t we? It only helps us do our jobs better! There are even benefits for you! Some of which are: help with timing, getting from point A to B, and relieving stress for you, your friends, your family, and everyone on center stage as well as backstage putting on your wedding. Remember what we say…We only have one shot at getting it right!
Yes, we can provide that upon request. Beware of DJs that don’t have insurance. This means they haven’t been in business long and aren’t experienced enough to know to cover you and your guests.
We don’t like operating without backups. No sound system has a 100% probability of working. We like eliminating the risk of malfunction in a pivotal point of your wedding.
We like to have 2-3 hours to set up our equipment. However, if your venue places restrictions on time, we can set up in as little as an hour.
Ideally, we need at least one dedicated 15 or 20 amp circuit. Many times we need two and sometimes even three. We take the steps to ensure that the power at your event is adequate, managed properly, and free of noise. Thinking about and doing these things behind the scenes can make all the difference.
Of course! Our microphones are top of the line and cost thousands of dollars. We eliminate the risk of something going wrong by having the best. Whether it be the maid of honor giving her speech, or the officiator performing the wedding ceremony, we’ve got you covered!
You get to make that choice! We dress the way you want us to be dressed. We can match your colors and be part of the wedding scenery or wear just a polo shirt. We set up our equipment before your wedding in casual clothes. Then we change into what you would like us to wear. When your reception is over, we change back into our regular clothes to pack up. It takes more time to do it that way, but nice clothes appreciate it and we’re sure you would to. Besides, your day is important to us.
A number of factors determine a DJ’s cost, including date & location of event, talent, experience, MC ability (Master of Ceremony), service, coordination, equipment needed, music knowledge, mixing ability and personality. For literally a few hundred dollars, anyone can throw together some used gear and call themselves a professional. As you gather more information, you may find that prices vary quite a bit from one DJ company to the next.
Rates for the DJ industry vary greatly, ranging from as little as a couple hundred bucks to $3,500 or more with an average 4-6 hour event around $1,200. The best price is not always the best deal, especially if you are planning a wedding. As an example, one company may have a package that is $795 and includes only 4 hours of music. Often times that DJ can end up costing more than the all-inclusive DJ, where the total number of hours can’t be known for sure ahead of time.
A full-service DJ company will normally invest 20-30 hours in your special event but it may appear that you are only paying for “4-6 hours”. Consultations, music purchasing, programming and editing, preparation, rehearsal, set-up and tear-down, education and other business-related endeavors add up to the overall success of your special occasion.

What Client’s Say

Dan, Richard and Pat went above and beyond anything we could ever expect!! From the very beginning of our professional relationship, he was completely on top of everything, from answering our emails/questions almost immediately, to soothing any nerves we had regarding our wedding day. His confidence absolutely held up on our wedding night. We got comments like “this is the most organized wedding i’ve ever been to! Everything went so smoothly!” Because of their guidance, no one had any idea that our ceremony rehearsal took all of 10 minutes. From the moment our guests arrived, to the toasting, to the cake cutting, they held our audience captive, made sure everyone knew what was going on, and got them moving on the dance floor! He played only the music we requested (60’s, 70’s, a little bit of 80’s) in addition to “must play songs,” and he played them EXACTLY when they needed to be played. His timing was spot on, and the music was totally rockin’! The lighting and equipment was top notch, and the photo booth was a huge party hit. Our favorite part of the evening was when they surprised us with our vows mixed in to our last dance. It was the final touch on our magical night that made everything so, so perfect. We would recommend Dan and Richard 100% to ANYONE who needs the best wedding entertainment at a value that is so beyond what they pay. Dan, Thank You again, so much! You were the best!

“Wow! Hiring Dan Brown and Sgt Brown Entertainment was one of the BEST decisions and investments I made for my daughter’s wedding and reception. The DJ should be one of the top priorities in planning a wedding. I never realized this until I planned my first daughter’s wedding. Dan was helpful, caring and positive from the first time we met up until the end of the wedding evening. He listened, shared his ideas and expertise and personalized the music and evening. His knowledge, professionalism and personality are priceless. He loves what he does and has a natural talent. My daughter wanted “games” at her reception. I had never heard of this before but Dan said “no problem” and had some great ideas. He had the bride and groom play the “shoe game” and the “guess your wife” game. It was fun for the guests to get to know the bride and groom better. It was a lot of fun, yet tactful. My daughter commented that her wedding was “perfect” that she couldn’t have asked for anything better. She was happy and everyone had a wonderful evening and I credit a big part of that to Dan and his services. Yes! Hire Dan, you will have peace of mind and be so glad you did! He is worth every penny!!”

“DJ Dan was awesome. He was extremely professional and very involved with the planning of the event. He really went out of his way to make our day special. He offered to come to the rehersal in order to better plan for the wedding cermony. We were 1.5 hours drive from him, but he said it was no problem! Dan helped us choose our songs and pick out the vibe for the reception. He also helped make our ceremony special by suggesting that we tie a knot to symbolize our on joining forever. It was so nice to have someone who knew what they were doing, he made suggestions that we would have never thought of until it would have been too late. Dan was great help with the little things you don’t think about, but have a big impact in the wedding. Oh, and his dj skills are awesome too! Everybody was dancing the entire time. I would recommend Dan with 2 thumbs WAY up.”

“Richard and Dan were dolls! We loved their ability to read people and know what they wanted. We were lost on the music and they were able to direct us on what kinds of music to use for each part of our day. The coolest part was the game section of the night. They had our guests rolling on the floor! (some literally)”
